The Kankakee County Humane Foundation has canceled their largest fundraiser of the year, Paws and Purrs, due to COVID-19.

“In light of the current status of the virus, we regrettably are cancelling Paws and Purrs for 2020 and moving! We know that is not a surprise to anyone and our primary concern, after the animals in our care, is for you, our loyal supporters, and keeping everyone safe.” The Kankakee County Humane Foundation (KCHF) said in a statement on Wednesday.

The organization will host an online auction beginning Monday, August 31st to replace the event which will run through September 6th.

“All of the fabulous items that you typically see are our in person event will be available online! We will be publishing information about how to join the auction, bid on items and how to claim your items once the auction closes!” KCHF says.

The Paws and Purrs event will return September 18th 2021.
