KANKAKEE, IL – Chaos unfolded in the 800 block of E. Merchant St. on Tuesday afternoon when a fight between two girls, stemming from a love triangle, escalated into gunfire.
According to City Police, the dispute initially involved the two girls, one of whom had a child with the boy in question. However, tensions quickly escalated as family members and friends joined the brawl.
Amidst the heated altercation, an alleged assault occurred when one woman reportedly struck another with a crowbar. In response, the targeted woman brandished a firearm, allegedly firing a single round into the ground, causing panic and sending bystanders scattering in all directions.
Authorities from the Kankakee City Police swiftly intervened, apprehending two adults and three juveniles involved in the altercation on charges of mob action. Two adults identified as Ariel B Price, 28, and Latoya R Ross, 35, both residents of Kankakee, the adults faced additional individual charges.
Price has been charged with Aggravated Battery, and her bond was set at $25,000, while Ross faces charges of Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, with her bond set at $50,000.
