Kankakee, Ill. – As part of Youth Violence Prevention Week, Kankakee United is sponsoring a “No questions asked” gun buyback event at Pioneer Park on April 15 from 9:00AM to 12:00PM. The aim of the event is to prevent gun violence and make Kankakee a safer place to live.

The event, which is open to Kankakee County residents only, will accept handguns and semi-automatic rifles for $200 each and rifles, shotguns, replicas, and non-functioning firearms for $100 each. BB guns will be accepted for $25. There is a limit of four weapons per person and no FFL dealers will be allowed.

Kankakee United encourages residents to walk up or drive up to the event with their firearms transported unloaded, in a box or bag. The event will take place rain or shine.

The event slogan, #WEAPONSDOWNBOOKSUP, underscores the importance of preventing gun violence and promoting literacy among young people.

For more information, interested individuals can call 815.936.3603. Kankakee United hopes that the “No questions asked” gun buyback will prepare the community for a better tomorrow, free from the pest of gun violence.
