Indiana Manhole Accident Leaves Contractor in Critical Condition Monday

HOBART, Ind. – A private contractor was injured while entering a manhole for maintenance work at Festival Park Monday. 

According to rescue workers, the Hobart Fire Department swiftly responded, enlisting the expertise of the District 1 Technical Rescue Team to extricate the worker from the hazardous situation. 

Subsequently, the injured individual was airlifted by the University of Chicago Aeromedical Network (UCAN) to a trauma center in Chicago, where they are currently listed in critical condition. 

“Our thoughts are with this person and their family. May they have a speedy recovery” Hobart Fire said in a statement Monday.

The identity of the victim was not released.
