MERRILLVILLE, IN – Tension gripped Pennsylvania Street on September 25th when Merrillville patrol officers raced to a reported hostage scenario at approximately 4:10 p.m. Upon hearing desperate cries from a female, the elite Merrillville Tactical Apprehension Team (MTAS) was called into action.

Anthony Bonner, the alleged male perpetrator, was apprehended shortly after. Notably, Bonner was already sought on two outstanding warrants via the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Currently held at the Lake County Jail, Bonner’s case is being diligently probed by Det. Bogner. For any information related to this incident, the department encourages reaching out to jbogner@merrillville.in.gov or calling 219-769-3531.
