MOROCCO, IN – A 32-year-old man from Lowell was injured in a single-car crash on US 41 on Sunday night.

According to Newton County Sheriff’s Police, the incident occurred near Division Rd, approximately one mile south of SR 14. Newton County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the scene after receiving a report of the crash at 6:37 pm.

Preliminary investigation show the driver was operating a Subaru passenger car traveling southbound on US 41 when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle suddenly swerved to the right. This caused the car to veer off the side of the road and collide with a utility pole.

The driver was soon assisted by good Samaritans passing by who were able to extricate him from the vehicle. The identities of the Good Samaritans were not released.

Newton County EMS arrived at the scene a short time later and transported the injured man to a local hospital for further evaluation. The extent of his injuries is currently unknown.
