FRANKFORT, Ill. – After a day of boil order advisory, residents of Prairie Creek, Walnut Creek, Georgetown, Plank Trail Estates, Hunter Woods, and all unincorporated Frankfort Square areas north of the Old Plank Road Trail, east of 88th Avenue, west of Harlem, and south of Lakeside Drive are looking forward to the lifting of the order on Tuesday.

The precautionary order was issued following a water main break detected on Saturday evening after customer complaints and alerts at the village’s wells and water towers. Village authorities are assuring residents that the order will be lifted as soon as possible, and their crews have been working around the clock to fix the problem.

The boil order was put in place to ensure that residents have access to clean water, free from any contaminants that may have entered the water system due to the loss of pressure from the water main break. As a precaution, residents are advised to continue boiling their water before drinking, cooking, or cleaning until the order is lifted.

The water pressure has been restored in the affected areas, and samples are being taken to the lab for testing. The earliest the boil order will be lifted is Tuesday morning (3/28/23) after a 24-hour sample period is completed.

Authorities will keep residents informed of any updates regarding the situation, and they urge everyone in the affected areas to comply with the boil order and avoid using tap water until further notice.
