JOLIET – A woman was arrested late Monday for allegedly driving a stolen Land Rover SUV out of Maine.

According to Joliet Police, it happened around 10:35 p.m. when officers reported the vehicle being tracked by its owner near Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center.  Officers attempted to stop the vehicle near the south end of the hospital on foot.  The vehicle reportedly took off and was later discovered in the 1400 block of Mayfield Avenue unoccupied.

Police set a perimeter and began a search of the area, deploying K-9 units.  Shortly afterwards the Land Rover’s key was found in the backyard of a nearby home.  The woman was later found by officers hiding in a garbage can.

Police took 29-year-old Katelynn Dubois of Wales, Maine into custody without incident.  A search of the Land Rover reportedly turned up suspected cocaine.

Dubois told officers on hand she had gotten the vehicle from a friends. The owner was notified of the vehicle’s retrieval and was later towed from the scene.

Dubois has been charged with Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Theft of Motor Vehicle Parts/Accessories, Aggravated Fleeing/Eluding a Peace Officer, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
