LOCKPORT – Fairmont Elementary School went into lockdown measures earlier this afternoon after a shots fired complaint lead police to a man who had been shot in the leg.
According to Will County Sheriff’s Police, officers were sent to the 200 Block of Nobes Avenue in Lockport Township in reference to a shots fired complaint and found the man along with numerous shell casings. The School, located at 735 Green Garden Place, was placed on lock down at 3:15 p.m. at the Will County Sheriff’s Office direction based on proximity to the shootings.
Sheriff’s police say the lockdown was lifted shortly after it was issued around 4 p.m. The victim in the incident is reportedly not cooperating with law enforcement.
Sheriff’s deputies confirmed no students, teachers, or school property were hurt or damaged in the incident, though will continue to have an increased presence around the school following the incident.
