WILL COUNTY, Ill – Over 250 local cats and dogs in Will County received free vaccinations and microchipping at a pop-up pet clinic held at the County Office Building earlier this month. The March 11th event was hosted by Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant, State’s Attorney Jim Glasgow, the K9 Enrichment Initiative, and Petco Love.
The vaccines were provided by Petco Love as part of its national vaccination initiative, which aims to provide one million free pet vaccines to animal welfare partners, including K9 Enrichment Initiative, for family pets in need. The event was a success, with volunteers distributing 100 bags of pet food, 84 pet waste scoopers, and 187 gift bags. Supplies were donated by Rescue Pack, FiNano, and Max & Neo.
Animal shelters across the country have reported increases in animal pick-ups in recent years, highlighting the importance of microchipping for pets. With microchipping, lost pets can be quickly reunited with their owners. This initiative is a significant step in ensuring the well-being of pets and promoting responsible pet ownership.
The event was a joint effort between Will County government officials and animal welfare advocates. The success of the pop-up pet clinic demonstrated the importance of collaboration between government and nonprofit organizations in supporting the needs of the local community.
