CHICAGO, IL – A 20-year-old woman from Addison, Illinois, was found dead at the bottom of Wildcat Canyon in Starved Rock State Park.
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources reported that two hikers discovered the woman’s body around 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
The woman’s identity has not yet been released, and the cause of death remains unknown. Authorities have ruled out foul play and are currently investigating the incident.
An autopsy has been scheduled with the LaSalle County Coroner’s Office working with the Illinois Conservation Police to determine the cause of death.
Starved Rock State Park is a popular destination for hiking and outdoor activities, attracting thousands of visitors each year. The park covers over 2,600 acres and offers breathtaking views of canyons, waterfalls, and forests.
While accidents and injuries are not uncommon in such areas, tragedies like this are rare.
