Man Dies Behind Kankakee Apartment Sunday, Multiple Gunshot Wounds

KANKAKEE, IL – Kankakee City Patrol Officers rushed to the 700 block of N. Greenwood Ave. early Sunday in response to gunfire.

According to city police, when officers arrived at 3:37 a.m. they discovered a lifeless man behind an apartment building, suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was identified by the Kankakee County Coroner’s Office Sunday as William D Campbell III, 35, of Kankakee.  An autopsy report found Campbell died of multiple gunshot wounds.
Campbell succumbed to his injuries on-site.
