Merrillville Police Arrest Gary Man in Connection with Murder Case

MERRILLVILLE, Ind. – The Merrillville Police Department have arrested Dejuan Boyd Mcintyre, a resident of Gary, in connection to a murder Thursday night.

According to Police officers responded to the scene after to a report of a gunshot victim on Mississippi Street.  It was around 11:15 p.m. when officers discovered Michael Lehman with multiple gunshot wounds. 

Lehman was airlifted to a Chicago hospital in critical condition.  A short time later officers located Ashley Bitikofer on the scene. Bitikofer was pronounced dead at the scene as a result several gunshot wounds.

Detectives soon after identified Mcintyre as the suspect. After executing a search warrant at his Gary residence Friday, Mcintyre was peacefully taken into custody by police.

Mcintyre has been charged on counts of murder and attempted murder and is now in custody at the Lake County Jail.
