Michigan – Frost clings to windshields and sidewalks feel stiff underfoot this morning as temperatures hover near 30°F across Marquette, creating a brief but real risk for slick spots on untreated roads.

According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, clear skies and light winds allowed temperatures to dip to 30°F at Sawyer International Airport. That puts bridges, shaded roads, and rural stretches of US-41 at risk for patchy ice early today, especially where moisture lingers. Conditions improve quickly as sunshine strengthens.

By midday, temperatures climb to 56°F under bright skies, offering a calm and comfortable stretch. This is the window to move safely, run errands, and check outdoor drainage areas after recent wet conditions.

Attention then shifts to late Thursday into Friday. A 40% chance of showers develops after early morning hours Thursday night, increasing moisture across Upper Michigan. By Friday afternoon and evening, rain becomes more widespread, with a 70% chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms. Roads will turn wet and visibility may drop quickly during heavier bursts.

Saturday brings partial clearing and cooler air, with highs near 51°F. While no snow is expected, nighttime temperatures dipping into the upper 30s could again support slick patches if roads stay damp—classic spring “flash freeze” setup in shaded areas.
