Naperville, IL – Naperville Police are cautioning residents about a new voting scam after a local resident reported receiving a suspicious text message containing their home address, urging them to click a link to verify their voter registration status and register to vote.

According to the Naperville Police, this text is likely a scam. The department has issued a reminder, emphasizing the importance of not clicking on links, returning calls, or sharing personal, banking, or account information when contacted unexpectedly. This includes communications through calls, texts, and emails.

The police advise verifying the legitimacy of any company or agency by looking up their official contact information online. They also encourage sharing this warning with elderly family members and neighbors to protect them from potential scams.
