New York City Area Shaken by 4.8 Magnitude Earthquake

Lebanon, NJ – A 4.8 magnitude earthquake rattled buildings and alarmed residents in the New York City area early Friday morning. 

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake was centered approximately 5 miles east of Lebanon, New Jersey, occurring around 10:20 a.m. Locals in both New Jersey and New York reported experiencing tremors that caused furniture and floors to shake, contributing to a brief moment of panic across the region. 

Despite the significant shaking, there have been no major disruptions or damage reported in either state, suggesting the area escaped significant harm from the seismic event. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, reassuring the public that such occurrences, while rare in this region, are closely analyzed for any potential future impact.
