Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued for Kentucky, Tennessee, and Missouri, Golf Ball Sized Hail Possible

Paducah, KY – A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for parts of Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, Arkansas, and Mississippi until 7 PM CDT today.

According to the US National Weather Service Paducah, the primary threat includes large hail, with reports indicating hailstones up to two inches in diameter. Additionally, damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph and frequent lightning are possible, along with torrential downpours. The affected areas include major cities such as Memphis, TN; Jackson, MS; and Sikeston, MO.

Residents in the watch area are advised to stay indoors and take necessary precautions to protect themselves and their property. This includes securing outdoor objects that could become projectiles in high winds and ensuring that vehicles are parked in sheltered areas to prevent hail damage. It is also recommended to keep flashlights and battery-operated radios on hand in case of power outages.
