South Dakota Man Ambushed in Illinois by Deceptive Ride-Share Users

BEACH PARK, Ill. – A 40-year-old man from South Dakota experienced a harrowing encounter early Saturday morning.

According to Lake County Sheriff’s reports, the man was lured to the 10100 block of West Talmadge Avenue under the guise of a standard ride-share pick-up, he was violently confronted by three malicious individuals.

As the destination was reached, the trio’s true intent surfaced: to steal his vehicle. The driver reportedly attempted to resisted, raising alarms by honking his car’s horn and shouting for help. His efforts resulted in him being struck in the head, and his phone taken, later recovered miles away.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital with head injuries.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office is diligently pursuing leads, hoping to apprehend these criminals. Meanwhile, ride-share drivers are reminded to remain vigilant and prioritize safety.
