LISLE, IL – A routine traffic stop turned alarming when Bevington Smith Jr., a resident of Clarksville, Tennessee, was arrested in Lisle early Saturday morning.
According to Lisle Police reports it began at 2:55 a.m., when Smith was reportedly found parked in a lane of traffic on the 4500 block of Rt 53. While he reportedly showcased signs of alcohol intoxication leading to a DUI charge, a subsequent search of his vehicle unearthed a loaded handgun and brass knuckles.
Chief Kevin Licko of the Lisle Police Department emphasized the importance of such interventions, thankful that the situation was contained without injury. Smith was charged with two counts of Driving Under the Influence, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Improper Parking/Stopping on Roadway.
