WILMINGTON, IL – The U.S. Forest Service has announced the closure of the Blodgett Marsh Trail bridge at Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie due to damage to the decking, making it hazardous to foot traffic.
The closure is effective immediately and will remain in place until the necessary repairs can be completed. Access to the Blodgett Marsh Trail via this entrance is currently closed until further notice.

Visitors looking to access the trail can do so by continuing north from this point down the service road for 1.8 miles until they reach a service road running east/west. From there, visitors should turn left (west) and continue down that service road for 0.2 miles until they intersect with the trail. There will be signage on the Blodgett Marsh Trail at the intersect.
Although the Blodgett Marsh Trail bridge remains closed for repairs, the trail remains open at all points north of the bridge. The U.S. Forest Service apologizes for any inconvenience this closure may cause and assures visitors that they are working to complete the repairs as soon as possible.
For further information, visitors can contact the Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie Visitor Center at 815-423-6370.
This closure serves as a reminder to all visitors to prioritize safety and caution when exploring the Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie.
