Woman Dead in Fatal Multi-Car Route 50 Homewood Crash, Person in Custody

Homewood, IL – A fatal collision at the intersection of 183rd Street & Kedzie Avenue claimed a life early Wednesday.  

According to police reports, it began 8:45 AM, emergency services from the Homewood Police Department and Homewood Fire Department rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a serious multi-car crash involving a grey Ford, a black Volkswagen, and an orange Nissan.

One of the drivers involved in the crash, a yet-to-be-identified woman, was treated and transported to South Suburban Hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased.

A second driver and a passenger from one of the vehicles suffered minor injuries and were transported to the hospital for medical attention. The third driver emerged from the crash unscathed and was taken into custody pending an investigation.

No charges have been announced as an investigation remains ongoing. Anyone who may have witnessed the traffic crash is urged to come forward with information, as their accounts may prove crucial to the ongoing investigation. The Homewood Police Department can be reached at 708/206-3420.
