Cincinnati, OH – Cold overnight temperatures are set to return across Ohio late tonight, bringing frost and pockets of freezing conditions that could impact early Tuesday travel and damage sensitive plants.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, temperatures will drop into the upper 20s to low 30s between 2 AM and 8 AM Tuesday across much of the region. Cities including Dayton, Columbus, and Springfield are expected to fall to around 32–34°F, while colder rural areas near Bellefontaine and Newark could dip to 29–31°F.

The coldest conditions will develop just before sunrise, creating a risk for patchy frost on elevated surfaces such as bridges and untreated roads along I-70, I-71, and I-75. Gardeners and farmers should take precautions, as even brief periods below freezing can damage crops and sensitive vegetation.

Monday daytime highs will recover into the 50s, and a warming trend begins Tuesday afternoon, with temperatures climbing into the upper 60s to low 70s by midweek across southwest and central Ohio.

Residents should cover plants, bring pets indoors, and use caution during the early Tuesday commute. Frost concerns will diminish after sunrise, with no prolonged cold expected beyond Tuesday morning.
