Cemetery Walk coming August 25th

“Voices of the Past” Cemetery Walk brings the fascinating history of Kankakee County to life. Participants who visit Mound Grove Cemetery will get a guided history lesson as they are led to grave sites of former residents, portrayed by actors in period costumes, and share something of their lives and times. 

Visitors will leave with a better understanding of Kankakee County’s rich heritage through the lives of its residents.

The historic people being portrayed are: Governor and Mrs. Len and Ida Small, William Gougar, Fannie Still, James Dennison, Solon Knight, and Charles Schneider

This event is made possible through the partnership of the  Kankakee County Historical Society, the Kankakee Valley Theatre Association, and Mound GroveCemetery

Please wear walking shoes and be prepared for walking through uneven terrain. 

Ages:  All

Location:  Mound Grove Cemetery (Please enter the south side of the cemetery off Rt. 50) (Exit on north side of the cemetery)

Fee:$10 Adults, $8 Museum member adults,

$5 child 12 and under, Free member child,

5 and under Free

You can purchase credit card tickets in advance at the Kankakee County Museum, Cash Tickets will be available the day of the event at Mound Grove Cemetery 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Time:  Tours start at 11:00 am & 2:00 pm (Please arrive 30min. prior to your tour time)
