KANKAKEE, IL – A vibrant and colorful showcase of original artwork from 14 local high schools is currently on display at Kankakee Community College’s 33rd Annual High School Juried Art Exhibition.

Featuring awe-inspiring paintings, mesmerizing photographs, and captivating 3-D designs, this exhibition is a feast for the eyes and a testament to the boundless creativity of young artists.

Sponsored by KCC’s Visual Arts Department, this year’s exhibition has already garnered rave reviews from visitors and art enthusiasts alike. The works are on display until March 29 in the lower level of the Miner Memorial Library at KCC, offering ample time for art lovers to soak up the stunning creations on display.

From Bishop McNamara Catholic High School to St. Anne Community High School, each of the 14 participating high schools has put forth its best artistic efforts, showcasing the unique perspectives and passions of each student artist. Visitors can view the exhibition from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Fridays. But the real excitement is reserved for the final evening of the exhibit, Wednesday, March 29, when a reception will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

According to Chelise Slowik, a KCC art professor, “The High School Art Show is always inspiring to see. Students draw and paint their interests and passions, and their work is particularly beautiful this year. Visitors will find the works full of passionate effort and imagination.”

The reception is a chance to celebrate the young artists and their incredible contributions to the world of art. It will feature an awards presentation and juror’s critique, adding an air of suspense to the proceedings. The jurors are none other than the KCC art faculty, who have the unenviable task of selecting winners in categories such as Painting, Color Drawing/Design, Photography/Electronic Imaging, and 3-D Design. At 7:15 p.m., the winners will be revealed, adding a thrilling twist to the event.

KCC is located at 100 College Drive in Kankakee, south of downtown Kankakee.
