EDWARDSVILLE – Over a third of an Amazon Distribution Center has partially collapsed Friday night trapping nearly 100 people inside.

According to local officials, the building partially collapsed while radar indicated a tornado was in the vicinity just after 8:30 pm.

Over 40 first responders vehicles had reported to the scene shortly after to the Warehouse located on Gateway Commerce Drive. Early reports indicate 50-100 people are trapped inside and the incident has been declared a Mass Casualty Event.

“My prayers are with the people of Edwardsville tonight, and I’ve reached out to the mayor to provide any needed state resources. Our Illinois State Police and Illinois Emergency Management Agency are both coordinating closely with local officials and I will continue to monitor the situation.” Governor J.B. Pritzker announced late Friday night.

No word on fatalities.
