KANKAKEE – Emergency crews at Limestone Township Fire Protection District worked to rescue a dog that found itself alone and isolated in cold, fringed conditions on the Kankakee River under Warner Bridge Wednesday.

Limestone Firefighters reported they and Saline Fire had been called to the bridge after a man jogging by heard the dog crying and barking for help after finding himself stuck on a fringed concrete support beam.

The Kankakee County Sheriff’s Office and Kankakee County Animal Control worked together to aid the dog, getting it fed and warmed up after the island isolation ordeal.
