DuPage County, IL – Residents Beware: Sheriff Warns of Facebook Page Scam

DuPage County, IL – Residents of DuPage County were alerted by the Sheriff’s Office to a deceptive situation: the Sheriff’s official Facebook page had been mimicked. 

According to Sheriff James Mendrick, the cloned account, particularly under the name Victoria Willis, has been reaching out to community members. The Sheriff emphasized that any communications from this account are not legitimate and advised residents to exercise caution. The issue has been reported to Facebook. This scam serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerability of social media platforms to fraudulent activities. 

Citizens are urged to remain vigilant and informed to thwart such deceptive schemes. The Sheriff’s Office reiterated the importance of public awareness in preventing such scams and thanked the community for their continued support.
