Elmwood Park Pair Arrested in $4k Naperville Allergy Retail Theft Case

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Police arrested two suspects for a string of brazen retail thefts totaling nearly $4,000 and endangering the health of a child. 

On Tuesday at approximately 7 p.m., Naperville Police Officers responded to a theft in progress in the 1300 block of S. Rt. 59. Store employees guided officers to the suspected offenders.

Ionel Tomescu, 30, and Miclescu Lovenza, 26, both of Elmwood Park, were taken into custody. The pair allegedly stole a substantial amount of allergy medication during two separate incidents on Aug. 29 and Aug. 25, 2023, from the same location. The stolen merchandise’s cumulative value is estimated to be just shy of $4,000.

Facing charges of two counts of Burglary, Class 2 felonies, and two counts of Retail Theft, Class 3 felonies, Tomescu and Lovenza also face allegations of one count of Endangering the Health/Life of a Child, a class A misdemeanor.
