PARK FOREST, IL – A terrifying incident unfolded in Park Forest as a local man targeted a helpless motorist stranded on the side of the road.

According to Park Forest Police it happened Wednesday at 1:30 pm when the victim, whose vehicle had broken down, found herself in a perilous situation when a Park Forest resident approached her with an offer of assistance. However, the situation quickly escalated as the man allegedly produced a handgun, leaving the stranded motorist with no choice but to surrender her possessions, including her purse. The assailant then reportedly disappeared into a nearby residence, leaving the victim shaken and traumatized.

Swift police action led to the apprehension of the suspect, identified as Andre Morgan, a 38-year-old Park Forest resident. Following a search of his residence, the firearm used in the robbery was reportedly recovered.

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office has approved one count of Armed Robbery, a Class X felony, against Morgan, with the possibility of additional charges pending a grand jury indictment.
