CHICAGO – Illinois Tollway officials announced Thursday it has ended the collection of cash tolls in Illinois following the outbreak of COVID-19 just over a year ago.

Cash toll collections were suspended last March.  All payments online if missed, or via an I-Pass or E-Zpass device.  Drivers will have two weeks to pay a missed toll online until they are hit with an additional three-dollar fine.

Before the pandemic, in 2019, less than 10% of all tolls were still paid with cash.
