KANKAKEE – The Illinois Capital Development Board (ICDB) announced Wednesday over $421,000 had been released from the state to Kankakee Community College (KCC) that will go towards the renovation of North Patio.

To date, $562,626 has been devoted to the renovation.

“This project is an important step in Kankakee Community College’s efforts to create the most inclusive teaching and learning spaces.  Renovations to the north patio will enhance accessibility to our living labs spaces on the south banks of the Kankakee River where students will learn about sustainability and the importance of protecting natural habitats,” said KCC President Michael Boyd.

The funds come as part of Governor Pritzker’s bipartisan capital plan, which is devoted towards job creation and economic opportunities throughout the state.

“It is the duty of elected officials to provide young people with the tools and resources they need to shape their future and achieve their dreams,” said Governor JB Pritzker. “With funding from the Rebuild Illinois capital plan, Kankakee Community College will be able to complete long-needed maintenance work, further cementing its place as an educational leader that excels in preparing talented students for the careers of tomorrow.”

A total of $45 billion dollars in funds are devoted to the the Rebuild Illinois capital plan, which will go towards rebuilding failing infrastructure throughout the state. That includes roads, bridges, railways, universities, and other facilities.
