Organizers made the announcement early Tuesday the Momence Farmers Market won’t happen in 2020.  The Market was set to go forward on Wednesday and was promoted through Social Media as recently as Monday morning.

“This was a hard decision. We appreciate your support. Please continue to support your local Farmers, Bakers, and Craftspersons.” the Market said in a social media post Tuesday.

Farmers Markets have been hit and miss across the Country due to COVID-19.

Locally, the Kankakee Farmers’ Market was one of the first markets in the State of Illinois to open with drive-thru capabilities before transitioning to a walk-through market once again with extended safety measures steaming from the Illinois Farmers Market Association’s COVID-19 Guidelines.

As recently as June 7th, the Village of Frankfort opened its Country Market, promoting a new “degree of normal” with new COVID-19 guidelines in place as well.
