Police: Romeoville man killed attempting to cross I-55

LOCKPORT – A man was killed while on foot traveling southbound on Interstate 55 near mile marker 269 Monday afternoon.

According to Illinois State Police, the man was hit by a 2018 Silver Chevrolet driven by a 62-year-old Mark Brochard of Plainfield.  Police say 58-year-old Renold Bean was the pedestrian, who was later pronounced dead at AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center in Bolingbrook.

Reports say Bean was attempting to cross from one side of the Interstate to the other before being struck by the Chevrolet. 

The interstate was partially closed while an investigation was underway and reopened before 7 pm.
