Recharge Coffee Bar in Manteno will no longer be accepting reusable cups until further notice. The move coincides with Starbucks’ lead in preventative measures in the fight against COVID-19. In a statement via Instagram, Recharge says:

“We are not releasing this because we see a problem, but instead to stay in front of the issue by protecting our staff and all of our customers.” – Recharge Coffee Bar via Instagram.

Recharge Coffee Bar is the first local area coffee shop to institute a change in policy. The announcement came shortly after this morning’s announcement that a passenger on Amtrak 303 which makes stops in Dwight and Joliet tested positive for Coronavirus.

On Thursday, Starbucks announced a ban on reusable cups and said in a statement it was “optimistic this would be a temporary situation.” Following the events in China, nearly half of all Starbucks in the country have been closed due to the outbreak.
