LOCKPORT – Statesville Haunted Prison has been voted the “Best Haunted House in Chicago,” and the “Scariest Haunted House in Illinois” yet this year, they’ll remain closed due to the ongoing pandemic.
“Safety is always our top priority for every guest and employees that set foot on the property. With that being said, as of today we are saddened to announce that our 2020 season, we will not be opening the Gates of Statesville Haunted Prison.” The Warden and Siegel Family said in a joint statement in August. “We want to do our part and help in the fight against Covid-19 and feel it would not be a safe move to open this year. If the conditions and restrictions change we will reevaluated this decision.”
The Haunted House is one of 18 across Illinois to already confirm their closure for the 2020 Halloween Season.
Trick-or-Pandemic
Health officials in L.A. put restrictions into Halloween this year, including guieliness that restrict door-to-door trick-or-treating, citing a difficulity to trick or treat and maintain social distancing efforts at front doors. No trunk-or-treating, parties, carnivals, festivals, live entertainment, or haunted houses would be allowed.
