Texas Man arrested on murder charges following Bar shooting that killed Kankakee resident

BRADLEY– A Texas man has been arrested on multiple charges including murder following a shooting that killed a Kankakee man overnight.

According to multiple agencies, the shooting happened sometime last night at a bar in the 200 block of West Broadway. Bradley Police found 3 people that were hit by gunfire at the time of arrival at the bar. During the incident 46-year-old Jess Hackney of Kankakee was shot multiple times.

Hackney was pronounced dead just after 12:40 am in a nearby emergency room of a local hospital.

Bradley Police reported the arrest of 40-year-old Anthony G Second Kendrick of Kerriville, Texas on murder charges. Kendrick is currently being held on four charges including aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, battery, and aggravated discharge of a firearm.

Kendrick is awaiting a bond hearing.

Hackney’s autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.

The death remains under investigation.
