Fair Grove, MO – Two individuals were rescued from a river late last night after their car went off CC Highway, according to the Fair Grove Fire Protection District.
Fire crews responded to the scene around 9:50 p.m. after a witness reported seeing the vehicle go into the water. Upon arrival, they did not initially find the car and began a search of the area. Additional resources were requested from nearby fire departments to assist with the search.
Crews moved upstream to the bridge off Farm Road 20 and began a foot search. Shortly after, they heard screams for help. Following the sounds, Fair Grove Fire crews located one adult and one minor clinging to a tree in the river, approximately a quarter mile from where they entered the water. Firefighters provided life jackets and rope to secure the individuals but were unable to perform the rescue due to limited manpower and budget.
A water rescue unit from the Springfield, MO Fire Department arrived and successfully brought the two individuals to shore by 10:51 p.m. Miraculously, both were unharmed during the incident.
