CHICAGO – Illinois Veterans’ Home at LaSalle (IVHL) announced in an Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) press release the death of a 7th resident at the facility on Veteran’s Day.
COVID infections reporting at the LaSalle Home now include 72 residents and 72 employees.
The announcement came on a report indicating another daily record had been set for new COVID-19 cases in Illinois. Veterans’ Day, IDPH reported 12,657 newly confirmed cases statewide, marking back to back days with over 12,000 new cases and the 6th straight day with cases of 10,000 or more.
Since November 1st, IDPH has reported 105,867 new cases of COVID-19 statewide.
The agency is now urging employers to have employees work from home for the next three weeks unless it is absolutely necessary for you to be in the workplace. “Our goal is to reduce transmission as we head into the holidays so businesses and schools can remain open,” IDPH reported Wednesday.
The agency is also asking residents statewide to stay at home as much as possible while COVID record case numbers continue to surge statewide, only making trips for essential goods and activities like groceries and pharmacy visits.
A State of Illinois daily COVID-19 briefing is scheduled for 2:30 pm this afternoon.
