The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has announced those who have tested positive for COVID-19 and have recovered do not need to quarantine or get tested again for up to three months, provided they don’t become symptomatic again.

“People who have tested positive for COVID-19 do not need to quarantine or get tested again for up to 3 months as long as they do not develop symptoms again.” says a statement on the CDC’s page. “People who develop symptoms again within 3 months of their first bout of COVID-19 may need to be tested again if there is no other cause identified for their symptoms.”

No official announcement was made by the CDC as the new info was included as part of guidance for those quarantining on the CDC’s website. The new information marks the first time any sort of immunity period has been announced for those who have recovered from a COVID-19 infection.

The CDC says standard mitigation practices still apply to those who have contracted COVID-19, including social distancing and wearing a mask.
