Illinois announces 2.5k new COVID-19 cases Sunday, 67 dead

Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) today announced 2,508 new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 67 additional deaths.  There have now to date been nearly 5,000 dead in Illinois due to the virus, which currently stands at 4,856 deaths.

No new deaths were announced in Iroquois, Kankakee or Will Counties today.  Kankakee County’s Coroner announced on Sunday death rates in the county year to date have seen a 9% increase due to the pandemic.

Since testing began, there have now been over 110,000 cases of COVID-19 in the state.  The number currently stands at 110,304 ranging in ages less than one to older than 100 years old.  The rolling statewide positivity rate is now at 12%.  There have now been 747,921 tests run in Illinois.
