KANKAKEE – Three more deaths were announced Thursday in Kankakee as the area cracked over 100 residents now hospitalized for COVID-19, which now stands at 104 locally. There have now been 94 deaths in the pandemic locally, with 17 new deaths reported since November 2nd.
Eight deaths have been reported since Monday in Kankakee.
Thursday afternoon, 225 new cases were reported in the county, accounting for 3,554 active cases in Kankakee, or nearly one of every two cases since the pandemic began in Kankakee. Since March, 7,281 cases have been reported locally.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported Kankakee County’s rolling seven-day positivity rating Thursday was 22.5%, or 2.3% higher than Will County’s current rolling average of 20.2%.
