Urbana, IL – A 62-year-old woman is recovering tonight after a harrowing encounter Sunday afternoon.

According to police reports it happened in the 1900 block of Autumn Ridge Dr around 12:30 p.m. when the woman returned from attending church to find a teenager concealed in her car. The assailant, identified by police as a 15-year-old male, allegedly attacked the woman, demanding money.

The teen reportedly battered the woman before being chased off by her dog’s barking.  The fleeing suspect was later arrested in a nearby field. Urbana Police report this was the second time in under a week the teen was booked on robbery charges.  The teen is also a suspect in a series of robberies targeting lone women near the University of Illinois campus area.

They emphasize the anonymous and confidential nature of reporting to Crime Stoppers, which offers significant cash rewards for tips leading to arrests in various criminal cases.
