Chicago, IL – Chicagoans are urged to prepare for a bout of severe weather today as the National Weather Service in Chicago predicts strong to severe storms, particularly this afternoon.

The forecast warns of possible hail up to 1 inch in diameter and damaging winds, primarily north of Interstate 80, between 3 and 8 pm. While the morning may see periods of rain, the likelihood of thunderstorms increases into the evening for northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana, including the metropolitan area of Chicago.

A sharp cold front is expected to sweep through tonight, leading to a drop in temperatures and potential frost late Wednesday night into Thursday morning. The city is advised to stay vigilant, as an unpredictable pattern late this week could bring more showers and thunderstorms.
