Bicyclist Killed following Collision on Route 64 in St. Charles

ST. CHARLES, Ill. – A 61-year-old man was killed  on Main Street Tuesday while riding his bike.

According to police reports, the bicyclist, identified as Rafael Hernandez-Villa of St. Charles was struck around 9:08 p.m. and later died from injuries after he was hit by a 2021 Jeep Wrangler on the 1300 block of W. Main Street. Early investigation reports attributed the accident to Hernandez-Villa allegedly riding westward without illuminated lights or reflective attire and without a helmet, turning into the Jeep’s path. 

He was promptly rushed to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital, where he later died. The Jeep’s driver remained unscathed. 

Authorities are urging potential witnesses to step forward by reaching out to the St. Charles Police at (630) 377-4435.
