Chicago, IL – A major update is coming for Illinois Tollway users in February. The well-known plastic I-PASS transponders are set to be replaced by new, streamlined sticker transponders.

The Illinois Tollway authority has announced that these stickers will be smaller, cheaper, and won’t require a deposit, which addresses the drawbacks of the older box transponders.

Initially available by the end of January at Illinois Tollway customer service centers, the Tollway’s headquarters, and Tollway oases, the stickers will be more widely accessible in February. They will be available at Jewel-Osco stores and online, providing easy access for commuters.

While the current I-PASS transponders can still be used until expiration, this upgrade represents a significant step in modernizing and simplifying toll payments for Illinois drivers.
