The annual “Cop on a Rooftop” event, running from 5 a.m. to noon, brings officers and community members together for a common cause.
According to the Park Forest Police Department, officers are stationed at Dunkin’ on 431 W 14th St, among other locations, selling merchandise and accepting donations. The event is part of the larger Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Illinois, which raises funds and awareness for the organization. Officers in Woodridge, Lansing, Palos Park, Gurnee, Wilmington, Arlington Heights, Beecher, and Morris are also participating, encouraging residents to grab a coffee and make a donation. Each participating Dunkin’ is offering a free donut coupon to donors, further incentivizing community support.
This event is happening at dozens of stores across Illinois, including Bourbonnais, Manteno, Frankfort, Joliet, and the aforementioned locations. Woodridge Police Department mentioned two specific locations, 87th/Woodward and 75th/Janes, where officers are present. Meanwhile, the Morris Police Department highlighted a special offer of a free thermal mug for donations of $10 or more.
