Algonquin, IL – Kane County Sheriff’s Office authorities report Monday charges against Patricio Salas, a 32-year-old resident of Algonquin, Illinois, following a domestic battery incident reportedly involving a knife that lasted several hours.
According to police reports the incident, which initially occurred on December 30, 2023, has led to the addition of severe charges including aggravated criminal sexual assault with a weapon. According to the Sheriff’s Office, they were called to the scene in the 400 block of Natoma Trail in Algonquin Township early that morning. Salas is accused of holding his girlfriend at knifepoint in a bedroom, preventing her from calling for help. She eventually managed to escape and notify a relative.
After fleeing the scene, Salas was later apprehended following a vehicle crash. He received medical treatment before being taken into custody. The Sheriff’s Office, supported by the Algonquin Police and Fire Departments, continues to gather further evidence and conduct interviews.
Salas now faces multiple charges including aggravated criminal sexual assault armed with a weapon, aggravated domestic battery by strangulation, and aggravated unlawful restraint.
