Fire at Kankakee Motel’s Pole Building Causes $25k Damages, Road Closure

KANKAKEE, IL – A faulty electrical supply has been identified as the root cause of a significant blaze that erupted behind Kankakee’s Fairview Motel on Sunday. 

According to investigators Sunday’s blaze caused over $25,000 in damages, destroying the building before first responders arrived.  

City of Kankakee Fire Department, Kankakee Township, Bradley FD, and Bourbonnais FPD, responded to the blaze. The extent of the fire led to an immediate and necessary closure of Route 45/52 for a time.   

As cleanup and investigations continue, the community is urged to remain vigilant and prioritize safety checks on their electrical systems.
