Lake County, IL – In a significant development, the Lake County Sheriff’s detectives have arrested two individuals linked to the April 20 armed robbery at a Beach Park convenience store.
Bryan Campos, 26, and Caden Hernandez, 21, were apprehended following diligent investigative work, with Campos’s arrest occurring on May 5. Detectives traced the crime back to Campos after a search of his residence yielded the outfit described by witnesses at the scene.
According to law enforcement officials, the key breakthrough was achieved when evidence, including clothing and a face covering used during the robbery, was found at Campos’s home during an April 21 search. Campos was later captured by Waukegan Police, found armed at the time of his arrest.
The incident, which took place in broad daylight, saw a masked individual demanding cash from a store clerk before fleeing. The Lake County Sheriff’s K9 unit initially tracked the suspect to a nearby dead-end street, suggesting an escape by vehicle.
Hernandez, identified as the alleged getaway driver, was arrested on the same day as the search warrant execution. Campos faces upgraded charges of armed robbery and remains in custody at Lake County Jail with his next court appearance scheduled for June 4. Hernandez awaits a pre-trial court date on May 9. Both are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
