Manteno Quarry Incident: Driver Safe After Truck Fire at Quarry Bottom

MANTENO, Ill. – A dump truck driver at the Prairie Materials Stone Quarry in Manteno narrowly escaped injury when his vehicle caught fire at the quarry’s bottom on Friday morning. 

Manteno Fire reports stated the truck was fully engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived around 9 a.m. The driver was not harmed in the incident, which occurred during the dumping of a stone load. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Fire crews from various departments were pivotal in controlling the fire, using shuttles to transport water to the challenging location.
